Emhart Technologies POP Blind Rivets are multi-piece rivet assemblies, capable of being installed from one side of the workpiece.
Traditionally, POP blind rivets were used on aircraft leading edges, trailing edges, and close out areas which are limited to access to
one side of the structure. However, current uses of POP blind rivets have expanded to many additional areas in an effort to decrease
labour expense and to address the ergonomic issues of solid riveting.
About POP Blind Rivets
How POP Blind Rivets Work
A POP Blind Rivet consist of two parts: the rivet body and, within the setting mandrel.
the body of the POP blind rivet is inserted in a hole in the materials to be joined
the tool is actuated and the jaws of the power-operated or manual POP rivetool grips the mandrel of the POP rivet
the POP blind rivet is set by pulling the mandrel head into the rivet body, expanding it, and forming a strong, tight, reliable joint. At a
predetermined setting force, the mandrel breaks and falls away
Advantages of POP Blind Rivets
The ability to set POP Blind Rivets without the need for access at the back of the work makes their use mandatory in many instances.
However, the many additional advantages of Emhart Technologies POP Blind Rivets make them the logical choice in numerous
applications, where the blind rivet setting feature is not of primary importance, such as:
Low in-place costs
Fast assembly
Low-cost, lightweight, easily portable POP Blind Rivet Tools
Vibration-proof assembly
No surface marring
Exceptional versatility
High grip and pull-up strength
Tamper proof
Increased design flexibility
POP Blind Rivet Materials & Finishes
Emhart Technologies POP Blind Rivets are available in:
Materials
Aluminum
Steel
Stainless steel
Copper
Monel
The POP Blind Rivet assembly, both body and mandrel, can be of the same material or a composite of two different materials.
Finishes
POP Blind Rivets are available in a wide range of finishes to suit all applications, be it solving a strictly functional need, corrosion
prevention, or colour matching.
POP Blind Rivet Head Styles
Your application will determine the most appropriate POP Blind Rivet head style to be used.
Domed Head : most versatile and commonly specified head style. Domed Head POP Rivets provide the necessary bearing surface to
retain all but the extremely soft or brittle materials
Large Flange : these POP rivets have twice the under-head bearing surface of comparable domed head rivets and are designed for
applications where soft or brittle materials must be assembled to a rigid backing material
Countersunk Head : these POP Rivets have a 120° head design and is specified whenever a flush surface is required
