HeliCoil Pipe Thread Inserts & Tools

HeliCoil Pipe Thread Inserts can be used in assemblies with the following thread types:

•American Standard Taper Pipe Thread (NPT)
•Aeronautical National Taper Pipe Thread (ANPT)
•American Standard Coupling Straight Pipe Thread (NPSC)

HeliCoil 8-Pitch Pipe Thread Inserts is a unique range of screw thread inserts specially designed for 
8-pitch threaded holes. HeliCoil Pipe Thread Inserts have a sharper crested diamond-shaped 
cross-section than conventional HeliCoil inserts and the wire cross section of HeliCoil Pipe Thread 
Inserts is precisely engineered to reduce the pitch diameter of a standard 8-pitch tapped thread by 
exactly 1/8" so that HeliCoil assemblies can be made in normal 1/8" thread size iincrements. 

For example, if a 1.1/4"-8 thread is damaged, it can be readily repaired by tapping with the next 
eighth-inch larger standard 8-pitch tap - in this case, 1.3/8"-8. No special taps are required. When 
the HeliCoil Pipe Thread Insert is installed, the resulting assembly provides a permanently repaired 
thread to the original 1.1/4"-8 thread size. 

Compared to other methods, thread repair with Emhart Technologies HeliCoil Pipe Thread Inserts is 
fast and economical, they provide better-than-original threads, and expensive parts can be salvaged 
with a minimum of downtime. 

HeliCoil Pipe Thread Repair Kits are available in a complete range of sizes for the most often recurring taper pipe thread failures, such 
as exhaust pipes and small engines.  

Each Emhart Technologies HeliCoil Pipe Thread Repair Kit contains a high speed steel drill, HeliCoil Pipe Thread Tap, HeliCoil installation 
tool, a quantity of HeliCoil Pipe Thread inserts, and installation instructions. 

Emhart Technologies HeliCoil Pipe Thread  Inserts are available in 18-8 stainless steel and Inconel X-750. For most repairs and 
applications in which temperatures will not exceed 800 degrees Farenheit, HeliCoil Stainless Steel Pipe Thread Inserts are 
recommended. When temperatures reach 800 to 1000 degrees Farenheit, or when seizure with stainless steel screws & studs must 
be avoided, HeliCoil Inconel X-750 Pipe Thread Inserts are recommended.

•Types : standard free running and screw lock
•Sizes : 1.1/8" & 2"
•Length : 1, 1.5, 2 times the nominal diameter of the bolt
