Dodge threaded inserts for plastics are brass screw machine products designed to provide strong metal threads in plastic components.
Dodge inserts are available in various knurl and undercut patterns to suit almost any threaded assembly application in plastics. They are 
designed to provide the high performance strength values of molded-in inserts while still retaining all of the economical advantages of 
insert installation after molding. 

Dodge brass inserts can be installed in a variety of ways. These include ultrasonic welding, hot or cold press-in, mold-in and self 
threading. Applications include the automotive, information technology, telecommunications, aerospace, defence, and medical 
industries.

In addition to the standard products, Dodge has also developed insert types and styles for specific applications. Designs such as studs, 
mold-in inserts, and compression limiters have been developed by Dodge.

Ultrasert II
Ultrasert I
•Ultrasert I Brass Inserts are fluted inserts designed for ultrasonic or heat installation into 
   thermoplastics
•Tapered design allows for accurate positioning in the receiving hole, ensuring proper alignment prior to installation •Flute and fin design provides a chip-free environment

Dodge Ultrasert I Brass Inserts
•Ultrasert II Inserts are the most widely accepted and used type of brass insert in the plastics 
   industry today
•Are tapered brass inserts designed for ultrasonic or heat installation into thermoplastics and structural foam materials
•Features parallel diagonal knurls for optimum torque resistance and undercuts for superior tensile strength •Flange provides positive pressure to the molten plastic, assuring complete filling of the knurls and undercuts for high assembly strength •Tapered design allows for rapid and accurate positioning of the Ultrasert II Insert prior to installation •Available in two standard lengths for each thread size for design flexibility •Excellent design for automated systems
Ultrasert III
•Ultrasert III Brass Inserts are designed for high volume production 
•Symmetrical design eliminates the need for orientation of the Ultrasert III prior to installation, 
   while lead-in pilots at both ends assure accurate positioning prior to installation, making it 
   ideal for automated installation feeders
•External configuration features opposing diagonal knurls which provide torque resistance and undercuts for tensile strength •Can be installed ultrasonically, with heat, or molded in
Ultrasert IV
•Lead-in pilot at front end of the Ultrasert IV Insert positions it accurately prior to installation
•Opposing diagonal knurls provide excellent torque resistance and undercuts provide high 
   tensile strength

Spread-Lok Inserts
•Has same design characteristics as Standard Expansion Inserts
• Used extensively in electrical industry feature a pilot and a flange. The pilot can be clinched 
   over a terminal connector, eyelet fashion, with the flange providing a large surface for 
   electrical contact. The installation and clinching operations are simultaneous using a simple 
   press-in type tool
•Especially well suited for thin-section applications, since the downward force of installation 
   is absorbed by the flange
•Dodge Standard Expansion Brass Inserts are two-piece units consisting of a threaded insert 
   and a captivated spreader plate. When this spreader plate is depressed, the knurled portion 
   of the expansion insert expands, anchoring the insert in the hole
•Dodge Expansion Inserts must be expanded by depressing the spreader plate prior to insertion 
   of the screw as the screw will not expand the insert and lock it in place
•They are to be used in blind holes in thermoset or thermoplastic materials after molding
•Versatile — can be used in any type of plastic
•Easy to install by simply pressing-in. Installs without heat or ultrasonics •If needed, the expansion insert can be installed to protrude above the surface of the part to act as an assembly-locating device
•Dodge Compression Limiters are non-threaded bushings made of various materials
•Designed for applications where the tightening load of the bolt or screw will compress, crack
   or otherwise damage the plastic component
•Comes in various knurl configurations and undercuts to meet the strength requirements of 
   the specific application
•Custom designed for each application
•Can be pressed in or installed with heat or ultrasonics
Dodge Miniature Brass Inserts are designed to meet the requirements of today’s electronic, 
telecommunications and computer markets. The trend towards more miniaturised and compact 
consumer products has necessitated the use of smaller screws which must be reusable without 
the possibility of thread damage. 

Dodge Miniature Brass Inserts provide the strong, reusable threads designers need. They are 
available in two styles. 


Symmetrical Type Miniature Brass Inserts 
•Designed for high volume production utilising small screws •Symmetrical design for eliminates need for special orientation of insert prior to installation, saving time & production costs in the process •Inserts can be loaded into an automatic feeding system, without the need for special orientation •Can be installed with heat or molded-in place Flanged Type Miniature Brass Inserts
•Designed to be installed into straight holes in thermoplastics or structural foam materials •Lead-in pilot at the front end of the insert accurately positions the insert prior to installation •Designed with opposing diagonal knurls that provide excellent torque resistance and undercuts for tensile strength •Flange provides a larger bearing surface which is advantageous in weaker plastics, ideal for electrical contact, and provides high strength in reverse screw entry applications •Can be installed with heat or molded-in place
•Ultra-Mold Brass Inserts are designed for applications where a molded-in insert is more 
   economical than post molding
•Revolutionary two-piece design means that there are full threads through the entire length
   of the insert. No added material is required for imperfect threads and drill point, saving space
   and weight
•Insert assembly and cleaning process eliminate machining chips and oil residue that may 
   contaminate plastic molded products
•Controlled minor diameter reduces insert movement during molding, ensuring accurate 
   alignment in the part
•Has unique counterbore which accurately positions insert over molding pin and allows for easy bolt entry during assembly •Insert flange provides a large bearing surface which is advantageous during the molding process and final assembly •Insert design ensures optimum strength performance
•Can be installed using heat or molded in
•Ultraseal Pipe Thread Brass Inserts are designed with a taper to permit easy installation and 
   self alignment
•Allows continuous assembly and disassembly of mating parts without damage to threads
•Diagonal knurls and fins profile are designed to exceed rotational tensile requirements.
•No need to mold or machine threads
•Features the O-Ring, an innovative design that provides a pressure tight seal between insert 
   and parent material over a broad range of operating temperatures
•O-Ring can withstand 600°F installation temperatures and will function at operating 
   temperatures up to 400°F
•Ultraseal Pipe Thread Inserts are to be installed after molding with either ultrasonics or heat
•Manufactured in 1/8-27, 1/4-18 and 3/8-18 NPTF Pipe Thread configurations
•Ultrasert IV Flanged Brass Inserts have the same characteristics as standard Ultrasert IV 
   Inserts but has an added flange on the knurled end
•Flange provides a large bearing surface, which is an advantage in weaker plastics
•For high strength assemblies, Ultrasert IV Flanged Inserts can be used in a reverse screw 
   entry where the load is 
   taken up by the flange i.e. screw entry opposite flange end

Ultrasert IV Flanged
•Self-Threading Brass Inserts are internally and externally threaded with two slots which 
   provide rapid cutting action similar to that of a tap
•Insert cuts its own thread cleanly and evenly when driven into a cored or drilled hole
•Friction between insert and plastic permanently holds it in place •Installs easily into thermoset or thermoplastic materials •No special tooling required. Self Threading Brass Inserts can be installed with a tap wrench or with a drill press and tapping head •Available with or without a flange. Flange provides larger bearing surface
•Spred-Lok Brass Inserts are one piece inserts with a unique, slotted, expandable outside 
   diameter
•Can be installed in thermoset or thermoplastic materials
•No special tooling required — fast and easy press-in installation into any type of plastic
•Mating screw expands the insert, locking it in place permanently and the insert provides a locking action preventing the screw from loosening under vibration
•Can be used in blind or through holes
•Available with or without a flange
